Bacon & Brown Sugar Baked Beans

If there is one thing that can complete a great cookout its a great big bowl of baked beans! So throw a few burgers or sausages on the grill and make these beans to welcome in summer. :)

Bacon & Brown Sugar Baked Beans

  • 6 slices thick cut bacon, diced
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 14.5 oz. navy beans, drained
  • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke

Cooking Directions

  1. *Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium sauce pan over medium heat cook bacon, stirring occasionally, until bacon is crisp about 8 minutes. Remove bacon to a paper towel lined plate. Remove all but 2 Tablespoons of fat from pan.
  2. Return pan to heat, add onions and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are softened, about 4 minutes. Stir in ketchup, sugar, mustard, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook 1 minute. Stir in beans, vinegar, and liquid smoke. Transfer beans to a 2 quart dish and sprinkle bacon on top. Bake until beans are heated through and bubbling around the edges, 15 minutes.
